TEHRAN, Iran — Iran’s National Security Council secretary, Mohsen Rezaei, said the country could target other oil export routes in the Persian Gulf if neighboring states join the US economic campaign against Tehran. He did not specify which routes might be affected.
Rezaei said Iran would respond to any US action south of the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that, if surrounding states align with Washington, no oil would pass through the strait, according to the report.
Addressing neighboring countries, Rezaei urged them not to participate in the US economic campaign, saying they would otherwise be viewed as enemies. He also said US companies could be targeted in the region and elsewhere if sanctions are imposed.
