Iran's Supreme Court has announced that individuals convicted of security crimes, espionage, and actions targeting the country's internal or external security will not be eligible for amnesty. Supreme Court Vice President Nasir Seraj outlined the criteria Friday. Seraj said priority in amnesty applications would go to those without specific victims, those without an effective criminal record, those who have served part of their prison sentence, and those showing signs of reform. He noted that the court's fundamental approach remains full implementation of sentences, but if a convict is found to be reformed, amnesty or sentence reduction may be granted. In cases involving specific victims, Seraj emphasized that amnesty cannot be applied without the victim's consent. He said such penalties are intended to ensure security and protect rights. Iranian security forces have detained hundreds of people in operations across the country in recent weeks.
