Iran's Supreme National Security Council has announced new procedures for commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, saying no transit fees will be charged and that vessels following the designated routes will be provided security. Under the rules, commercial vessels seeking passage must first apply to a Corridor Administration. Approved ships will not be charged, and Iran will guarantee their security for 60 days under the arrangement. Vessels will also be required to adhere to the routes and schedules assigned to them. US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced earlier that a naval blockade that had begun on April 13 has been lifted. The decision followed a remotely signed memorandum of understanding on Wednesday between US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian that ended hostilities and reopened the strait. The two countries also launched a 60-day negotiating track covering the nuclear file and sanctions, though no further details were immediately available.
