TEHRAN, Iran โ Iran's Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that an Iranian delegation will travel to Switzerland to monitor the implementation of US commitments under a recently signed memorandum of understanding. The ministry said the first article of the memorandum is the most important, and accused the other side of violating an obligation to compel Israel to halt its attacks on Lebanon. Iran called on the United States to accelerate implementation of the agreement.
In its statement, the ministry said, "We did not sign to not implement the signed memorandum; our approach is commitment for commitment," according to the official text. The ministry confirmed that provisions related to lifting the maritime blockade have been carried out and that the Strait of Hormuz has been reopened in line with the memorandum. It stressed that the agreement is an integrated package and that failure to implement some of its articles would create problems.
Separately, US Vice President JD Vance told Fox News that Washington has no evidence Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz. Vance said the United States is willing to give negotiations with Iran a chance and expressed confidence that the ceasefire will hold.
