KYIV, Ukraine โ An air raid alert was issued across Ukraine on Saturday evening, with the country's official nationwide alert system warning of a missile threat to the capital, Kyiv. The alert was activated in all regions at around 18:35 Moscow time, according to the alert system data.
The nationwide warning comes amid a series of Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian territory in recent days, including attacks that have targeted critical infrastructure in and around Moscow. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said earlier in the week that one of the drones damaged a facility belonging to a petroleum refinery in the capital, though no casualties were reported.
Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defense units detected up to 172 drones over several regions overnight and intercepted most of them. Emergency crews continued working at sites where debris from downed drones was found.
