TEHRAN, Iran โ Iranian authorities said at least 38 people have been killed and more than 400 wounded in US airstrikes since June 22. Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpur said the toll had risen by 06:30 local time, with the death toll reaching 38 Iranian citizens and injuries surpassing 400.
Kermanpur said the figures include three women killed and 22 women wounded, as well as one person under 18 killed and nine others under 18 wounded. Iranian state media reported separately that eight people were killed and 20 injured in overnight US strikes targeting infrastructure.
US Central Command said the airstrikes were carried out in response to what it described as Iranian actions against commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's army said it retaliated by bombing US bases in several Middle Eastern countries.
No further details on the scope of the strikes or additional casualties were immediately available.
