TEHRAN, Iran โ Iran's Civil Aviation Organization said 133 passenger aircraft were dispatched to safe airports during the war with the United States and Israel, the organization's head, Abu Zarr Shiroudi, announced. He added that 36 aircraft were granted permission to leave the country.
Shiroudi said the organization exchanged 25 communications with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) during the conflict to track damage to aviation infrastructure. He did not provide further details on the extent of the damage.
The United States and Israel launched a wide-scale attack on Iran on February 28, 2026, targeting senior regime figures and various facilities. Iran retaliated with missile strikes on Israel and US bases in the Gulf. A temporary ceasefire was declared in the region in April.
A preliminary agreement aimed at fully ending the war was signed between the parties last Sunday, though details of the deal have not been disclosed.
