TEHRAN, Iran — TEHRAN — Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Wednesday it carried out a large-scale, surprise attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, announcing the strike as the "Fifteenth Wave" of an operation codenamed "Nasr 2." The operation was carried out under the slogan "Ya Abu Salih al-Mahdi, come to my aid," the Guards said in a statement.
Earlier in the day, the IRGC said it had also targeted military equipment at a US base in Kuwait. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Israel of attempting to drag the US administration into "a war that cannot be won," without elaborating.
On the same day, missile strikes were reported against the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, airstrikes on shipping lanes in the Gulf of Aden, and direct clashes between Iranian forces and US interests in the Gulf, according to the same IRGC statements. No further details on casualties or damage were immediately available.
