BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan โ€” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit that Iran does not want a war with the United States to continue and that the solution lies in dialogue and cooperation, the Iranian presidency said. According to the statement, Pezeshkian said disputes must be resolved through dialogue and cooperation, and that all available means should be mobilized to prevent the spread of insecurity and conflict in the region. He expressed opposition to the continuation of the war, saying it served neither Iranian nor regional interests. The Iranian president's remarks followed recent military escalation in the region, including a US strike on Iran's Lark Island and subsequent reciprocal military moves. US President Donald Trump said sanctions pressure on Iran was being intensified and that Washington would respond to an Iranian attack on US forces in Jordan. Trump also shared an image he said was generated using artificial intelligence, claiming it showed Iran's Kharg Island destroyed.
