Iran's Pezeshkian says current moment is best time to reach agreement

TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the current period represents the most suitable time to reach an agreement, telling reporters that war cannot continue indefinitely and must be brought to an end at some point. He pointed to unity and strength inside the country as he made the case for negotiations. Pezeshkian said diplomacy is being pursued daily to navigate between war and peace, with efforts aimed at preventing additional pressure on the public. He added that present conditions could create an opportunity to resolve issues through talks, and that Iran's demands would not be accepted if the other side fails to make progress. The Iranian president noted that the United States is not trustworthy but said efforts are being made to advance negotiations, with a memorandum of understanding to serve as the basis for talks. Pezeshkian said problems cannot be solved through war and stressed that the other side must recognize and guarantee Iran's rights on the path to peace.
