Iran's parliament speaker says Iraq visit will focus on security, economy

TEHRAN, Iran — TEHRAN — Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said his upcoming visit to Iraq will include concrete steps to strengthen joint security and mutual prosperity. Speaking ahead of the trip, Ghalibaf said the visit is intended to advance bilateral cooperation and contribute to regional stability. According to Ghalibaf, the agenda in Baghdad will cover security, economic relations and border management. The Iranian delegation is expected to hold official talks in the Iraqi capital with senior officials. Memoranda of understanding expected to be signed during the visit are planned to open new areas of cooperation in energy and trade, Ghalibaf said. He added that the visit would be shaped by mutual respect and shared interests.
