TEHRAN, Iran โ Iran's Army announced Friday that it fired warning missiles at two U.S. destroyers operating in the Sea of Oman, prompting the vessels to depart the area and head toward the Indian Ocean.
The military said the operation involved Qadir-type missiles and Shahid Dana attack drones belonging to Iran's Naval Forces. Tehran described the action as a response to what it called interference by the U.S. Navy against commercial ships and oil tankers in the region.
U.S. Central Command reported that since a naval blockade began April 13, 127 commercial vessels have altered their routes through the Strait of Hormuz as of June 4. CENTCOM said it stopped six non-compliant ships and permitted 36 humanitarian aid vessels to pass.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Congress passed a resolution 215-208 to prevent President Donald Trump from continuing military operations against Iran without legislative authorization.
