TEHRAN, Iran โ€” Iran's Foreign Ministry said Friday afternoon that a ceasefire agreement with the United States was signed electronically and that a meeting planned for Friday in Switzerland was "not urgent" at this stage. The ministry said negotiations toward a final deal depend on the implementation of certain provisions of the accord reached with Washington and on both sides honoring their commitments. The ministry confirmed the Swiss meeting had been postponed and said preparations for a new round of talks were underway in the coming days. Switzerland also announced that the US-Iran talks would not go ahead as scheduled on Friday. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said there were no obstacles to the negotiations. The postponement came a day after the White House confirmed Thursday evening that US Vice President JD Vance had canceled a trip to Switzerland to meet Iranian negotiators. US President Donald Trump and his Iranian counterpart had signed the agreement late Wednesday. The delay added uncertainty over the starting date of a 60-day negotiating process between Washington and Tehran, which could be extended. The Lebanon file is among the difficult issues standing in the way of a final agreement.
