Iran Kurdish party says it will not use Iraq territory to attack Iran

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — DUBAI — A spokesman for the Iran-based Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDPI) said the party has told Iraqi authorities and the Kurdistan Regional Government that it will not use Iraqi territory to launch attacks against Iran. Speaking to Shafaq News, KDPI spokesman Khalid Azizi said the party's struggle is centered inside Iran and focused on the regions of Eastern Kurdistan. He said the party has worked to avoid giving Tehran a pretext to extend tensions with Iran into the Kurdistan Region. Azizi added that the party has no intention of turning Iraqi territory into a base for its front. The statement comes amid heightened military tensions in the Kurdistan Region, where ballistic missiles and drones have struck strategic sites, including Harir Base and Erbil International Airport. The KDPI said centers belonging to Iranian Kurdish opposition parties have also been targeted in the recent attacks.
