TEHRAN, Iran โ Iran's religious leaders are preparing a multi-day mass funeral for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in initial US and Israeli strikes, according to reports. Funeral ceremonies are scheduled to begin in Tehran over the weekend, with public processions planned in Qom and Mashhad over the following week.
A separate mourning ceremony for Khamenei will also be held in Iraq, the reports said. Organizers said the events are intended to demonstrate continued public support for the Islamic Republic and to sustain revolutionary momentum.
Iran has declared a week of national mourning, with condolence programs extended through Friday prayers. Khamenei's body is expected to be transported from Tehran to Qom and then to Mashhad, where the public will be allowed to pay their respects.
