TEHRAN, Iran โ The funeral commission for Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has outlined mourning and burial arrangements, saying farewell ceremonies will begin on Saturday and run for two days at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla in Tehran. The commission said funeral prayers will be held in Tehran, Qom and Mashhad, with further details on those rites to be announced separately.
According to the commission, Khamenei's body will be transported to Najaf and Karbala on Wednesday, July 8, with family members to be farewelled at the same ceremonies. The statement said logistical details for the Iraqi leg of the rites would be shared with the public in the coming days.
