BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi judicial authorities have issued international arrest warrants through Interpol in a corruption investigation targeting the former deputy petroleum minister and several businessmen linked to projects at North Refineries Company.
The investigation centers on a pipeline installation project at the Qayyarah Refinery. Technical assessments found the project's actual cost should not exceed 1 billion dinars, while the contract was valued at approximately 15 billion dinars.
The warrants name former Deputy Petroleum Minister Adnan al-Jumaili, along with businessmen Mohammed Abdullah and Hasan Abdullah al-Najjar. Other suspects in the case face arrest warrants, travel bans and asset seizures.
The investigation is examining links between the North Refineries Company projects and the suspects. Authorities said the case file also covers broader inquiries into other petroleum sector projects.
