A human rights center in Iraq has called for the establishment of a dedicated ministry for women to strengthen their roles across the country's social, economic, and political sectors.
The center emphasized that a high-level state institution is necessary to leverage the significant contributions Iraqi women make to education, healthcare, governance and community development.
The proposed ministry would be tasked with developing specialized policies to protect women's rights, combat domestic violence, and expand access to employment and education.
Advocates argue that consolidating women's and family affairs under a single administrative roof would increase the efficiency and effectiveness of state operations.
The center has formally requested Prime Minister Ali ez-Zeydi to include a dedicated ministry for women in the formation of the new cabinet.
