Holy Husseini Shrine says Arbaeen visit plan completed without incident

KARBALA, Iraq — The General Secretariat of the Holy Husseini Shrine in Karbala announced on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, that its security, service, health and organizational plan for the Arbaeen visit had been completed successfully. The shrine said millions of pilgrims and Husseini convoys were hosted without any security breaches, service disruptions or crowd-control failures, with the work carried out under the direct supervision of a shrine foundation official and the General Secretary. According to the statement, the General Secretariat had drawn up a comprehensive plan covering the routes used by pilgrims from border crossings to the shrine of Imam Hussein. The plan mobilized human, technical and logistical resources to manage regional security, crowd control, emergencies, medical and first aid services, food, shelter, transport, drinking water, communications, guidance and lost-and-found services, alongside rest areas and cleaning operations. The shrine said it would continue providing uninterrupted services until the last pilgrim departed Karbala. It attributed the outcome to early preparation, continuous planning and accumulated field experience, and credited staff and volunteers for what it described as service delivered in the spirit of Hussein.
