WASHINGTON, United States โ Hezbollah announced Thursday it carried out attacks against Israeli Merkava tanks in southern Lebanon, near the fortress known as Qal'at al-Shakif. The group said in a statement that one tank was destroyed by a guided missile and two other tanks were hit with appropriate weapons in the same area.
Israeli media reported casualties from the attack on Israeli forces in the border region. Hebrew-language sources described the strike as a difficult incident, though no exact figures were provided.
Lebanese Health Ministry figures show that since October 2, Israeli attacks have killed 3,526 people and injured 10,733 others. Despite a ceasefire agreement announced in Washington, Israeli air raids on southern Lebanon have continued, with cross-border hostilities persisting between the two sides.
