BEIRUT, Lebanon — BEIRUT — Hezbollah's operations room said it foiled an overnight infiltration attempt by an Israeli commando unit toward Ali al-Tahir hill in southern Lebanon, leaving dead and wounded among the Israeli force. In a statement, the group accused Israel of violating the ceasefire from the outset and continuing its violations, while saying the resistance had remained committed to the truce since Friday evening.
The operations room said the Israeli military launched intensive airstrikes targeting civilian areas inside and around the operation zone after the failed infiltration, describing the raids as an attempt to cover up a military failure. It added that the resistance would continue to abide by the ceasefire but would respond to any Israeli action on Lebanese territory, with forces remaining on full alert.
Lebanon's Health Ministry said an Israeli strike on the southern town of Qanaite killed seven people, including women and children, and wounded 13 others. The attacks came despite a suspension of hostilities announced by the sides a day earlier, with Israeli airstrikes continuing across southern and central parts of Lebanon from Saturday morning.
