Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qasim called on Thursday for the immediate suspension of direct negotiations involving Israel, describing the talks as a "disgrace" and "humiliation." Qasim said Lebanon's internal divisions remain the primary obstacle preventing unified action against Israeli aggression.
In a statement, Qasim urged Lebanon's government to prioritize bringing citizens together to establish a common position against Israel before addressing other issues. He said internal peace must come first, after which other matters could be handled within the framework of the constitution, national accord, and coexistence.
Qasim said Lebanon's sovereignty could only be achieved once Israeli aggression completely stops. He also said no external power has the right to interfere in Lebanon's internal affairs.
The statement comes amid ongoing regional tensions following the Gaza conflict. No further details about the negotiations were immediately available.
