Germany secured a place in the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 win over Ivory Coast in their second Group E match in Toronto. Ivory Coast struck first through captain Franck Kessiรฉ inside the penalty area in the 30th minute and went into halftime leading 1-0.
Coach Julian Nagelsmann introduced Deniz Undav and Nadiem Amiri after the break, shifting Germany to a more attacking shape. Undav equalized in the 68th minute, finishing off a pass from Amiri, before completing his double in the fourth minute of stoppage time after being set up by Felix Nmecha to seal the 2-1 victory.
The win lifted Germany to six points and guaranteed first place in Group E. Ivory Coast, who entered the match on three points, were left to await the final group standings to learn their fate.
