KIRKUK, Iraq โ A fire broke out in an agricultural area in the Kirkuk province, damaging roughly 10 dunams of farmland before firefighters brought it under control. The Kirkuk Provincial Defense Directorate said the blaze started in the Nebiawa area north of the city center. Firefighting teams responded quickly and, with assistance from local farmers and residents, managed to prevent the fire from spreading to broader cultivated lands.
Authorities said the rapid response and cooperation of farmers saved thousands of dunams of crops from destruction. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Security forces have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. The provincial defense directorate called on farmers to take security precautions during the harvest season to prevent similar incidents.
