SULAYMANIYAH, Iraq โ A large fire broke out in the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan Region and was brought under control after several hours of firefighting efforts, officials said. The cause of the blaze and the extent of the damage had not yet been determined.
Firefighters and emergency response teams continued cooling operations in the affected area, according to local officials. Authorities said the fire started near a residential area and spread rapidly before crews contained it.
No casualties or injuries were reported. The Sulaymaniyah governor's office said it was monitoring the situation and that damage assessment work would begin. Officials urged residents to stay away from the area while operations continued.
