DUHOK, Iraq โ A fire triggered by an electrical fault gutted four shops owned by displaced families from the Sinjar district at the Mam Rashan camp in the Sheikhan area of Duhok province, according to local officials.
Initial findings indicated the flames started in a single shop and spread to neighboring businesses, causing significant material losses for the owners. Official sources said no casualties were reported in the blaze.
Civil defense teams and other emergency units reached the camp quickly, bringing the fire under control and preventing it from spreading to other sections of the camp. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
The incident has directly affected the livelihoods of Sinjar-origin families living in the camp, located east of Duhok, who rely on the shops for income.
