Fire damages about 10 dunums of wheat field in Kirkuk village

KIRKUK, Iraq — A fire broke out in a wheat field in the village of Kabzua, in the Hawijah district southwest of Kirkuk, burning roughly 10 dunums of cultivated land before civil defense teams brought it under control. A source at the Kirkuk Provincial Directorate of Civil Defense said the blaze started in a wheat field and was contained before flames could spread to surrounding farmland. Fire crews were dispatched to the scene and extinguished the fire, according to the source. Authorities said no casualties or injuries were reported. An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the fire. Officials urged farmers in the area to monitor their land and watch for potential risk factors, noting that agricultural areas in the region face similar fire hazards during the annual wheat harvest season.
