BAGHDAD, Iraq โ A fire broke out in a three-story commercial building in Baghdad's Karkh district on June 4, 2026. The Baghdad Fire Department said in a statement that crews responded to the scene on 14 Ramazan Street and brought the blaze under control before it spread to neighboring buildings.
The fire occurred on floors housing mobile phone sales shops. Firefighters prevented the flames from reaching adjacent structures despite the presence of flammable materials inside the building.
No casualties were reported. Crews also rescued cash stored in the building, the fire department said.
Authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the fire. A forensic expert and an investigation officer have been requested to determine how the blaze started.
