Fire Burns Over 20 Dunams of Wheat Crop Near Tuzhurmatu

TUZHURMATU, Iraq — A fire broke out in a wheat field in the eastern rural area of Tuzhurmatu district, in Salahuddin province, destroying more than 20 dunams of crop, according to the Salahuddin Civil Defense Directorate. Firefighting teams were dispatched after the blaze was reported and managed to prevent the flames from spreading to surrounding agricultural areas, limiting the damage to the initial site, the directorate said. Authorities said the fire caused material damage to the wheat harvest. An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the blaze and assess the full extent of the losses. Civil Defense officials confirmed no casualties or injuries were reported. The damage was confined to the burned crop, they said.
