BAGHDAD, Iraq โ A large fire broke out at heavy oil storage tanks serving brick factories in the Nahrawan area, southeast of Baghdad, Iraq's Civil Defense Directorate said on Monday. Fourteen specialist teams and supporting fire crews were dispatched to the scene.
The directorate said firefighters entered the damaged tanks and worked at the heart of the blaze, using tactical planning to bring it fully under control. Officials confirmed that no casualties were reported and that the fire was prevented from spreading to neighboring tanks.
A forensic examiner was called to the site to determine the cause of the fire. Authorities said samples will be collected and the legal process will be completed once examinations are concluded. Further details were not immediately available.
