BAGHDAD, Iraq โ A fire broke out on the fourth floor of a four-story commercial building on Palestine Street in eastern Baghdad, Iraq's Civil Defense Directorate said. Crews brought the flames under control and extinguished the blaze.
According to a Civil Defense source, the fire spread across the floor and reached the roof, burning a 5,000-liter diesel fuel tank and two generators. A preliminary investigation determined the fire was caused by a malfunction in the building's main electrical distribution panel.
Six people trapped inside the building were rescued alive: four Iraqi citizens and two foreign nationals. Cooling operations were ongoing at the scene. No further details were immediately available.
