BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” FIFA has prohibited reusable water bottles at stadiums for the 2026 World Cup, citing security concerns and a need to prevent injuries from objects that could be thrown. The governing body updated its Stadium Code of Conduct to ban previously permitted transparent plastic bottles, along with glass, cups, jars, and boxes. FIFA said the measure protects players, referees, fans, volunteers, and staff. Some stadiums face temperatures expected to range from 26 to 28 degrees Celsius. FIFA said it is coordinating with host city committees and local authorities to mitigate heat risks through water spray stations, fans, humidification points, and cooled tents. Water bottles sold inside venues will be priced in line with other events at each stadium. The 2026 World Cup will run from June 11 to July 19, with 48 national teams competing across 104 matches in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
