BAGHDAD, Iraq โ FIFA announced June 5 that it has allocated $250 million for a club support program ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Under the program, clubs will receive approximately $5,000 per day for each player called up to their national team. Payments will be calculated based on the player's duration at the tournament and participation status.
FIFA also set aside an additional $100 million for clubs that release players for 2026 World Cup qualifiers. This supplementary funding will be distributed according to the number of matches each player contests with their national team.
With 905 qualifying matches scheduled worldwide, the additional payment translates to roughly $2,360 per player per match. The club support program aims to compensate teams for releasing players for international duty during the tournament cycle.
