Explosion at Qatar's Ras Laffan industrial city injures multiple people

DOHA, Qatar — An explosion at a factory in Qatar's Ras Laffan industrial city, north of the capital Doha, injured multiple people, the Qatari Ministry of Interior said. The ministry attributed the blast to a technical malfunction during operations. Authorities said there was no leak of hazardous materials and no threat to public safety in the surrounding area. They did not provide details on the condition of the injured. The ministry's initial statement also said the incident was a technical accident with no security threat or hazardous leak. Relevant agencies continued work at the site, the statement added. Ras Laffan, located on Qatar's northern coast, is a major industrial hub hosting the country's liquefied natural gas production and export facilities.
