Erbil has officially entered the Guinness World Records after preparing the world’s largest shawarma skewer, weighing 2,672 kilograms. The record-breaking event was confirmed during a ceremony attended by Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw.
Prepared by the Kass Azadi restaurant, the massive skewer surpassed the previous world record held by a Turkish establishment. The achievement highlights the city's capacity for large-scale public initiatives.
Following the cooking process, the shawarma was processed into more than 4,000 sandwiches. The Kurdistan Humanitarian Aid Organization oversaw the distribution of these meals to nursing homes, orphanages, psychiatric hospitals, and other social service institutions.
Governor Khoshnaw praised the accomplishment, noting that the capital of the Kurdistan Region continues to provide a supportive environment for innovative projects. The event concluded with the official registration of the new record by Guinness representatives.
