ERBIL, Iraq โ Erbil International Airport director Ahmed Hoshar said the airport's airspace remains open and there are no restrictions on air traffic, according to the state news agency. Speaking on Thursday, Hoshar said flight movements are continuing normally and dismissed any suggestion of disruption.
The statement followed reports that four drones had been intercepted near the U.S. consulate in Erbil. The airport administration issued the clarification in response to questions about whether the interceptions had affected operations.
Erbil International Airport is one of the busiest air transit hubs in northern Iraq, serving foreign carriers and international flights. Airport officials said operations are continuing as scheduled and no further details were immediately available.
