Eight Iraqi public officials detained in Salahuddin corruption probe

SALAHUDDIN, Iraq — Eight of 54 public officials subject to arrest warrants were detained overnight in an anti-corruption operation at the Salahuddin Provincial Council building, according to the provincial governorate. The warrants stem from administrative irregularities dating back several years, provincial spokesman Saba Sami said in a written statement. The overnight operation was carried out by security forces accompanied by teams from Iraq's Commission of Integrity, Sami said, without providing further details of the investigation.
