Duhok and Zakho are experiencing a significant influx of visitors as the Eid al-Adha holiday drives a surge in tourism across the region. Local authorities report that over 45 large tourist buses entered the Zakho independent administration today, with arrivals continuing throughout the day.
The Duhok Tourism Directorate anticipates hosting between 7,000 and 8,000 visitors daily for the duration of the holiday. This high demand has pushed hotel occupancy rates in Duhok to 90 percent.
The majority of the incoming tourists are traveling from other provinces within the Kurdistan Region, as well as from central and southern Iraq. This seasonal activity follows a strong performance last year, when Zakho recorded more than one million visitors.
