Gold prices edge higher in Baghdad, hold steady in Erbil on Saturday

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Gold prices rose slightly in Baghdad on Saturday morning while holding steady in Erbil, according to local market data. On Nehr Street wholesale market, the selling price of 21-carat Gulf, Turkish and European gold reached 950,000 Iraqi dinars, with a buying price of 946,000 dinars. Iraqi 21-carat gold in the same market was recorded at 920,000 dinars to sell and 916,000 dinars to buy. At Baghdad jewelry shops, 21-carat Gulf gold sold for between 950,000 and 960,000 dinars, while Iraqi gold traded at 920,000 to 930,000 dinars. The wholesale and retail ranges reflect the spread between local bullion dealers and finished-jewelry sellers in the capital. In Erbil, the selling price of 22-carat gold stood at around 982,000 dinars, 21-carat gold at 937,000 dinars and 18-carat gold at 804,000 dinars. The figures indicate no change in Erbil pricing compared with recent sessions. The price movement coincided with a higher dinar-dollar rate. At Baghdad's Kifach and Harisiye exchanges, $100 traded for 153,100 dinars on Saturday morning, up from 152,750 dinars on Friday.
