Needle removed from stomach of 21-year-old patient in Mosul hospital

MOSUL, Iraq — Medical staff at Mosul's Republican Teaching Hospital successfully removed a needle from the stomach of a 21-year-old patient, the hospital announced. The procedure was carried out by the digestive system endoscopy unit under the supervision of consultant physician Nagam Ghanim al-Talibi. The intervention was performed using a gastroscope and completed without the need for surgical operation, according to the hospital's statement. Medical teams extracted the foreign object from the patient's stomach through the endoscopic procedure. The hospital said the success of the procedure reflected the experience of its medical staff and the use of modern endoscopy techniques. The Republican Teaching Hospital operates under Mosul's Health Directorate, where the intervention took place.
