BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The Central Bank of Iraq has announced a comprehensive restructuring of its internal units and oversight bodies to improve institutional performance and align its organizational structure with strategic goals.
Under the new plan, the directorate for the supervision of non-banking financial institutions has been elevated to a general department. The department of information technology and payments has been renamed the department of information technology. Additionally, the operations and reconciliation unit has been moved to the accounting department, while the policy and regulation unit and the digital financial solutions unit now report to the non-banking financial institutions supervision department.
The bank has abolished the financial inclusion unit, distributing its duties among the departments of bank supervision, accounting, statistics and research, and non-banking financial institutions supervision. The information security unit was also dissolved, with its responsibilities transferred to the risk management unit.
Regional branches in Basra, Mosul, and Erbil will now report to the deputy governor. The corporate identity unit has been separated from the presidency and attached to the quality management department, which in turn reports to the deputy governor. These changes are scheduled for implementation by July 30, 2026, with the human resources directorate managing the redistribution of personnel.
