WASHINGTON, United States — TEHRAN — Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Sunday that Tehran does not regard the United States as a trustworthy party and has therefore set clear red lines in negotiations with Washington. Speaking to the press, Ghalibaf identified the resistance front and Lebanon as among those red lines. He said Iran would not retreat from its core demands in the memorandum of understanding concerning a halt to fighting against its allies and the resistance front. Iran and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding on June 18, 2026, according to the report. The agreement is aimed at ending the military conflict that began on June 28, lifting the maritime blockade of Iranian ports, and restoring navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Under the same arrangement, negotiations on Iran's nuclear program were placed on a 60-day timeline. No further details were immediately available.
