SALADIN, Iraq โ Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina played to a 1-1 draw in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup group stage at Toronto Stadium on Friday evening. Bosnia and Herzegovina took a 1-0 lead into halftime after Yovo Lukiฤ scored in the 21st minute, controlling the first half against the host nation.
Canada pressed after the break and leveled the score in the 78th minute through Cyle Larin, who converted as the home side generated a series of attacks in the second half. The match kicked off at 10 p.m. local time in Canada, one of the three host countries for the tournament.
The two teams are competing in Group B alongside Qatar and Switzerland. The United States, the other co-host, is scheduled to face Paraguay in Inglewood, Los Angeles, in the early hours of Saturday as part of Group D, which also includes Australia and Turkey.
