RIYADH, Saudi Arabia โ French striker Karim Benjema has confirmed he will remain at Al-Hilal for the duration of his contract, putting to rest speculation about a possible departure during the summer transfer window. Speaking to reporters after Al-Hilal's 3-0 win over Al-Fayha in the second week of the Saudi Pro League, the former Real Madrid forward said: "My future? What do you want me to say? Everything is fine. I have a contract, I am here now, and we will see what happens. I have a contract and I am staying at Al-Hilal."
Reports during the transfer window had linked Benjema with a move away from the club, citing alleged disagreements with Italian head coach Simone Inzaghi and claims that Al-Hilal was looking for a new striker. The 33-year-old's comments were read as a clear rebuttal of those rumors.
Inzaghi, speaking at his own press conference, declined to address Benjema's future in detail, saying he was focused on working with all his players. Al-Hilal, the defending Saudi Pro League champion, has begun the new season with two wins from two matches.
