Basra governor denies gifting 45 SUVs to Kuwait border security

BASRA, Iraq — The Basra governor's office has denied reports that the provincial administration gifted 45 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles to Kuwaiti border security forces, calling the claim baseless. In a statement, the governorate said no vehicles had been donated to any unit, adding that Basra's authorities do not allocate vehicles to neighboring countries outside official procedures. The denial came in response to information circulating on social media and other platforms alleging that the vehicles had been donated to Kuwaiti border units. The governorate said the claims did not reflect reality and were intended to unnecessarily strain relations between the two countries. Officials said the matter would be pursued through official channels and that legal action could be taken against those spreading the misinformation. The statement added that cooperation on border security with Kuwait is conducted solely through official channels.
