TEHRAN, Iran โ€” Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran has not carried out any negotiations with the United States and that the resumption of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz depends on the fulfilment of Tehran's conditions. In an interview with the Iranian daily Shahrra, Araghchi said no decision had been taken to restart talks with Washington. He said messages conveyed through Qatar and Pakistan cannot be considered negotiations, while separate discussions with Oman have focused on establishing a maritime route in the Strait of Hormuz. Araghchi added that the United States must meet the conditions required to resume shipping through the waterway. The remarks come as tensions over the strategic strait continue, with Iran signalling that any reopening of the corridor will be conditional on its terms. No further details on the proposed framework or timeline were immediately available.
