ERBIL, Iraq โ Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said the regional government is backing Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani's anti-corruption campaign as a "fundamental" supporter. Barzani described the effort as a priority for the Kurdistan Region as well, adding that officials in Erbil are coordinating with the federal government on the matter.
Barzani also said disputes between Baghdad and Erbil would be resolved through full implementation of the Iraqi constitution, calling constitutional violations the root cause of the country's problems. He said adherence to the constitution by all parties would end existing disagreements between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region.
No further details on specific coordination steps were immediately available.
