Baghdad police dismantle fake lending firm, arrest suspects

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Baghdad's Rusafa Police Command said its officers, working with national security and organized crime units, dismantled a fraudulent company that had promised citizens illegal loans and arrested the suspects. The operation was carried out based on a court order following intelligence work, the command said in a statement. During the raid on the company's premises, police seized electronic devices and mobile phones used in the fraud scheme, according to the statement. The Rusafa Police Command, which oversees security responsibility for Baghdad's eastern side, said the detained suspects had been referred for investigation and legal proceedings.
