Baghdad Police Bust Armed Motorcycle Theft Gang

Baghdad’s Rusafa Police Command said on Friday it has dismantled a gang that robbed citizens of their motorcycles at gunpoint, in an operation that followed an armed theft in the capital. The case highlights ongoing efforts to curb violent street crime in Baghdad. Police said the criminal team was arrested after it seized a citizen’s motorcycle and fired several shots. Officers recovered a Kalashnikov rifle and a pistol during the operation. Police also said narcotic substances were found on the detained suspects. The suspects were transferred to detention pending legal procedures.
