Baghdad led Iraq public-sector construction projects in 2025, statistics agency says

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Baghdad ranked first among Iraqi provinces for public-sector construction and building projects in 2025, accounting for 416 projects worth 4.753 trillion Iraqi dinars, according to data released by Iraq's Statistics and Geographic Information Systems Organization. The agency recorded 2,279 contracting projects nationwide during the year, with a combined cost of 24.163 trillion Iraqi dinars. Baghdad's share represented 18.2 percent of the total. Diyala placed second with 248 projects valued at 557 billion dinars, followed by Nineveh with 231 projects worth 1.203 trillion dinars. The figures cover public-sector contracting activity logged across the country's provinces for the year. By executing body, municipal affairs departments led with 1,406 projects, while the Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works ranked second with 216 projects.
